McCain Food’s Plover Appetizer Plant, located in Plover, Wisconsin is an appetizer manufacturing facility that employs approximately 270 employees. We have been in operation since 2008 and we specialize in the production of breaded cheese curds, cheese sticks and other specialty appetizers.

Position Summary:
An E&I Technician performs troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical controls, electrical wiring and process instrumentation. An E&I technician is responsible for all operational technology equipment including PLCs, VFDs and related controls hardware. This position also performs control upgrades, programming and the creation of applicable electrical schematics.

Essential Functions:*

  • Uses specialized tools and instruments to troubleshoot, repair, and program electrical equipment.
  • Programs PLC’s, VFDs and other controls hardware.
  • Provides technical expertise to Maintenance Technicians.
  • Maintains a clean work area to prevent contamination of product.
  • Accurately completes required work documentation and any related record keeping.
  • Understands the concepts and participates in the techniques of the quality process.
  • Performs work safely and in a timely manner.
  • Installs electrical distribution lines and equipment.
  • Perform complex electrical repairs on equipment.
  • Duties include using a pallet jack, scissor lift, and forklift for electrical repairs
  • Have a working knowledge of the NEC code and NFPA 70E, its interpretation and implementation.
  • Provide feedback to the maintenance team to help modify existing equipment and improve the design of future equipment.
  • Troubleshoot control systems throughout the plant and make repairs as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Educational Requirements:*

  • High school diploma or general education diploma required.
  • Two-year Associate Degree in job related technical training or equivalent work experience.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:*

  • Working knowledge of National Electric Codes and Regulations
  • Proficient with electronic testing instruments
  • Knowledge and experience preparing drawings of electrical circuits
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Experience using electrical measurement instruments (Multimeter)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel & Word.

Physical Demand:*
While performing the duties of this job, E&I Technicians regularly work near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to the risk of electrical shock and vibration. E&I Technicians are required to use electrical gloves and other PPE as required. E&I Technicians may be exposed to high decibel levels from the production equipment and hearing protection is required.
