Avets is looking for an experienced leader to join our team as an ER Department Supervisor. The successful applicant will utilize proven leadership skills to promote an efficient, collaborative, and supportive work environment for our ER team.
Avets is a 24-hour Emergency & Specialty Veterinary Hospital located in Monroeville, PA. Our emergency team is made of 40 veterinary technicians, assistants and other support personnel.
Job responsibilities will include:
- Creating the support staff schedule.
- Holding regular meetings, both 1:1s with direct reports and department meetings.
- Promoting a clean, well-stocked and safe work environment while adhering to all OSHA standards.
- Addressing clients concerns real time, escalating them as necessary.
- Holding team members accountable to hospital policies and established expectations.
- Initiating corrective action when necessary.
- Working with our Training Coordinators to create development plans for team members.
- Developing a team of shift leads that effectively direct workflow, ensuring timely, error-free patient care.
- Gaining a working knowledge of the offering and procedures performed at Avets in order to effectively assign responsibilities.
- Developing plans and action items to address problems and inefficiencies.
- Assisting in interviewing and onboarding new team members.
- Effectively communicate updates to a 24-hour, multi-shift team.
- Acting as a liaison between team members and hospital leadership.
- Troubleshooting equipment.

Successful applicants will:
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading and managing a team.
- Remain calm and efficient in a high stress environment; be adaptable and overcome challenging situations!
- Provide excellent customer service and interact with clients in a manner that supports Avets' mission to provide state of the art medicine and compassionate care for pets and the people who love them.
- Work with fellow team members to maintain a productive, positive, and respectful environment.
- Prior veterinary or healthcare experience is preferred, but not required.

Pay: From $27.00 per hour
