SUMMARY:
Provides support for a wide range of strategic benefit programs, including group insurance plans, savings and retirement programs, and workforce health initiatives. Delivers customer service to employees concerning available benefit programs, presents new hire orientation materials, and functions as a company liaison with insurance providers, outside vendors, program administrators, and GD corporate representatives. Supports benefit administrators and coordinates benefit-related activities. Processes and files benefits forms and related information and maintains benefit records. A full-time, non-exempt position which reports to the Employee Benefits Lead.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND DUTIES: Implement and help oversee employee benefit programs, including group health and insurance plans, retirement programs, and workforce health initiatives. Support functions between insurance providers, outside vendors, consultants, corporate headquarters, and other NASSCO facilities. Develop and deploy benefit-related communication programs, platforms, events and communication campaigns. Organize, update, and file benefit-related forms, service requests, and inquiries. Support communication, coordination and processing of annual open enrollment activities and help resolve issues through third party administrators. Monitor benefit plans and programs to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives aimed to, improve quality and customer service, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, healthcare or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work experience in an office related to benefits, customer service and manufacturing environment preferred. Must have ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information. Ability to support data collection and analysis regarding benefit programs. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills Must be self-motivated, capable of working independently and effective in a team environment. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical dexterity must allow for bending, reaching and pulling. Must be able to operate computer keyboard and controls. Must be able to move around the office to access office equipment and supplies. Ability to commute to other buildings in and outside the shipyard for meetings. Ability to speak and communicate effectively with a diverse workforce. Fluent in English and Spanish a plus

PAYSCALE: $58,600 - $77,000
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
