ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

MOMCares serves under-supported mothers with NICU experiences in Baltimore City by providing prenatal and postpartum doula care including transportation, advocacy, self-care opportunities and nutritious meals to mothers and their families. Our mission is to reverse the crisis of Black maternal health nationwide by providing life-saving services.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Engagement and Events Specialist will manage MOMCares presence at community events and community meetings. They will engage with potential referral sources, community partners and resources, as well as low level funders. The Engagement and Events Specialist will work to develop strategic partnerships with the community that will lead to increased opportunities to serve, increased revenue, and increased visibility in communities . They will oversee all tasks related to the event planning process. This may include meeting with vendors, touring venues, event set up and break down, ordering supplies, decorating, and working with staff to ensure a successful event.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Planning (45%)

  • Plan and execute both internal and external events as part of the overall

organization’s strategy

  • Manage events from planning to execution up to post event reporting including

supervision of 3rd party agencies/vendors

  • Create and manage the list of internal and external event suppliers

  • Work with marketing to properly promote and document all events

  • Assist with the creation and implementation of event communication plans

  • Develop internal and external communications including timelines, invitations, and promotions

  • Provide support at MOMCares community events/meetings which may include

evenings and weekends.

Partnerships & Community Engagement (45%)

  • Develop relationships with social programs, health organizations and community

groups to encourage cross referrals

  • Engage with local and regional stakeholders and partners to expand community access to wellness programming and health literacy.

  • Participate in MOMCares program promotion and health education outreach activities

  • Establish rapport with community members, community stakeholders and potential

partners.

  • Provide support at MOMCares community events/meetings which may include

evenings and weekends.

  • Participate in training, workshops and other activities as required.

  • Establish strategic partnerships with vendors and suppliers to improve the effectiveness of MOMCares’ offerings

  • Assist with customer service/clerical duties pertaining to answering the telephones,

greeting, and registering clients

  • Provide information and resources for ongoing MOMCares research and future

Projects

Administration and Evaluation (10%)

  • Develop event budgets and monitor expenditures

  • Review and analyze event feedback and evaluation

  • Compile and enter monthly and yearly statistical, narrative, and other reports as directed

  • Maintain confidentiality of all clients and study participants in accordance with MOMCares protocols and all other required guidance

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least two years’ experience working in related environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively through interpersonal, verbal, and written interactions

  • Proven ability to build and cultivate relationships

  • Ability to prioritize multiple, changing projects in a dynamic, sometimes high-pressure environment

  • Experience directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socio economic backgrounds, including experience incorporating communities of color and people with lived experience in planning and decision-making processes

  • Must be driven, motivated, strategic, able to work independently on assigned tasks, and take initiative to add value to MOMCares

  • Ability to work flexible schedule including days, evenings, and occasional weekends

  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the city and state of Maryland with a valid

driver’s license

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • At least 1 year event community engagement experience

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience

This role will be a hybrid position with a minimum of two days in office and three days work from home

Travel to partner meetings and travel to volunteer recruitment events. Travel is reimbursable at .62 per mile for a total of 50 miles a month with parking reimbursement up to 50 per month. 90% of partner meetings still take place virtually.

COMPENSATION

  • Salary: $50,000
