Fast growing, design build construction company is seeking a Director of Engineering to support construction in Wastewater and Water Treatment projects.
GENERAL SUMMARY
They will provide delivery leadership of IWS engineering design projects within the Wastewater and Water Treatment Sector.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects within the IWS organization.
- Ensures all engineering projects and processes follow company policies, objectives, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Develop Strategic Goals for Engineering Function.
- Develop Process Improvements, Efficiencies, and Prioritization with IWS Engineering.
- Director will manage and develop team of IWS engineers
- Identify new skills and competencies required within the IWS team to meet business goals.
- Lead the Design Build Engineering of the DB projects from concept, design, permitting through construction.
- Coordinate QA. QC programs for both IWS Engineering Projects and IWS Design Build Projects.
- Drive successful delivery of engineering design work across the business, work closely with the Engineering team to assemble suitable project teams as required.
- Support the preparation of project proposals, lead presentations, and lead project contract negotiations with support from senior management.
- Drive ‘Safety by Design’ approach on all projects, at all times.
- Responsible for performance of assigned projects; including but not limited:
- Safety, health, environmental management, sustainability, and quality
- Profit & Loss
- Risk Management
- Manage Engineering Projects end-to-end
- Establishing and maintaining professional and satisfactory relationships with the client, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, and all other project stakeholders
- Manage and be actively involved in permitting, design and construction phases of water and wastewater treatment facilities in multi-state regulatory environments, identifying requirements and creating timelines.
- Internal Financial and Operational coordination.
- Report regularly on project progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and ay issues requiring office support.
- Develop and implement project policies and procedures, project control systems and implement the project execution plan.
- Plan and lead project and client meetings, as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of the requirements of relevant Environmental and Waste Management legislation.
- Thorough understanding of current Construction (Design & Management) and Regulations.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Proactive in building knowledge and understanding in Water and Wastewater Industry.
- Capability to coach and develop IWS engineers
- Engaged in the engineering community and how we can drive success for our clients.
- Ability to develop innovative and practical solutions to a range of problems, and an understanding of how one issue may be part of a much larger solution.
- Ability to make an effective and collaborative contribution to the team through sharing knowledge, promoting ideas, and valuing the contribution of all team members.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of engineering design services experience with at least 5 years related experience in engineering design and design management.
