The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is the sixth largest transportation system in the United States, with a vast network of fixed route services including bus, subway/elevated, trackless trolley, light rail, and commuter rail serving a 2,200 square mile service region.


We are currently seeking a Engineer I (1013) - Rail Vehicle Engineering in the REE&M/Rail Vehicle Engineering department.


SEPTA currently requires all new employees to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination at their pre-employment medical appointment.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

We are currently recruiting to fill an entry level Engineer I position for Vehicle Engineering Division (VE).


This position is responsible for undertaking engineering/quality assurance assignments that are considered to be of "basic complexity" in size and scope. This position is further responsible to provide technical support and direction for engineering/quality assurance activities including the definition and coordination for design review and implementation, establishing inspection plans, program/project development and consulting, statistical methods, audits, and continuous improvement approaches to ensure activities are consistent with SEPTA mission values and goals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provides technical assistance to vehicle maintenance personnel upon request.
  • Oversees any vehicular drafting assignments which pertain to assigned tasks.
  • Defines, implements, and documents new or more effective maintenance procedures for an assigned fleet of vehicles.
  • Utilizes computerized maintenance records as an aid in resolving issues related to vehicle system fault or malfunction.
  • Creates file maintenance inputs to ensure material for vehicle repair/renewal is properly designated.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Power Engineering required. Additionally, students who are on track to receive their Electrical, Electronic or Power Engineering degrees by May 2023, are also invited to apply.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Working knowledge of Autocad version 14 or higher required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
