JOB SUMMARY:
This position is for Sr. Lead Engineer in the Relay Group within Capital Projects - Project Delivery Engineering. This position works in conjunction with other engineering disciplines and performs a wide variety of activities in support or relay design and relay settings/configuration duties. The Sr. Lead Engineer will focus on quality excellence, customer centricity, compliance, workforce development, industry involvement, and project portfolio management. The Sr. Lead Engineer will interface with various teams including but not limited to Relay Design, Relay Settings & Configuration, Training, NERC Compliance, Information Technology, Information Security, Telecom, and Construction personnel.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSBILITIES:
  • Project Portfolio Management
    • Assist Relay supervisors in managing/tracking portfolio of work, i.e. project reporting, package counts, etc.
    • Assist in coordination and oversight for Grid and PM&C portfolios of contracted work. Duties could include gathering and organizing feedback for Contract Partner Business Review Meetings
    • Support early Project stage gates (0-2) of if needed for critical/complex projects
    • Work with other disciplines within the Capital Projects & Power Delivery organizations and other company business units to achieve department goals.
    • Assist with contractor evaluation, creation of new blanket contracts, and creating scope of work based contract releases
  • Compliance Excellence
    • Assist in compliance activities such as Condition Report Causal Determinations/HULOs involving relay design & relay settings/configurations
    • Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e., NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations
    • Assist in the development NERC Compliance expertise within Project Delivery Engineering
    • Identify gaps in design & settings process/procedures and assist in developing/implementing process/procedure changes or improvements
  • Workforce Development
    • Coordinate and Develop Relay Design and Relay Settings/Configuration Training modules with the Training Department to create rapid onboarding program for new design and settings/configuration engineers
    • Mentor and teach new design & settings/configuration engineers, i.e. directs and mentors junior staff
  • Quality Excellence
    • Participate in quality review of critical design and settings/configuration packages. Examples of critical packages might include Tier 1 Industrial substations, Nuclear switchyards, and CIP medium impact switchyards.
    • Facilitate lunch-n-learn meetings to increase awareness of design/settings/configuration issues
    • Gather and facilitate project issues to act as a liaison between the Chief Engineer (Design Basis) and Project Delivery Engineering (Relay) to provide feedback for protection standards developments & improvements
  • Industry Involvement
    • Actively participate in industry organizations/meetings/conferences such as IEEE PRC committee, IEES PES, Texas A&M and Georgia Tech Relay Conferences, North American Transmission Forum, etc.
  • Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (Electrical preferred) from a four-year accredited institution

Minimum Experience:
  • 8 years of experience with a PE
  • 10 years of experience without a PE

  • Recognized by peers (internal and external) as expert in relay design or relay settings/configurations
  • Mentors other engineers and technical professionals

  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards
  • Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base
