The California Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Redding office has an opening for an Engineering Geologist in the Nonpoint Source Activities Unit. The position is located at 364 Knollcrest Drive, Suite 205, Redding, CA 96002.

Under the close supervision of a Senior Engineering Geologist, the incumbent will perform staff level activities associated with the evaluation, inspection, monitoring, analysis and the development of regulations (permits) for activities associated with vegetation management activities and utility corridor maintenance. Activities include; permit development, vegetation management inspection and oversight, post wildfire recovery, utility corridor maintenance and repair inspections and oversight, permit development and ensuring project enrollment, and preparation of enforcement actions. This work requires close coordination with partner local, state, and federal agencies, ability to exercise professional judgement, conducting field work in difficult terrain, all weather conditions and long days, and a working knowledge of various technical applications (such as GPS, ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point).

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
