Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the Engineers who apply our products and technologies to our customer’s vehicles.
Manage the daily activities Engineers on new business opportunities during development and the maintenance of current vehicle applications.
Responsible for the technical interface with Dana’s global drivetrain customers.
Develop with the applications engineers, design proposals and products to meet customer requirements.
Make key decisions on proposals, including sizing, priority and requirements following the Design Review Process.
Manage customer program timing for engineering activities necessary to meet key milestones and overall program timelines.
Review DVP&Rs and DFMEAs as well as participate in APQP.
Review monthly customer vehicle warranty data and manage necessary actions for improvement.
Provide technical support to our customers during vehicle development, launch, and production phases.
Develop and support Va/Ve cost savings proposals.
Develop resource plans, (people and budgetary) and ensure annual goals and objectives are met by the applications engineering team.
Individual performance reviews, sighting strengths / weakness with action plans for improvements.
Provide technical support to the customer, manufacturing plants, assembly plants, and the sales department during sourcing, vehicle development, launch, and production.
Communicate customer needs and concerns throughout all levels of the organization both verbally and through various written texts and presentations.
Perform technical problem solving and leading direct report as well as indirect reports to urgently address issues.
Actively interface with other engineering, manufacturing and sales functions within the organization.
Responsible for following all global procedures, including recommendation for improvements when need.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field.
Minimum 5 years drivetrain experience
Requirements
Experience with managing projects from concept to production
Ability to develop strong customer relationships
Ability to successfully function in a matrix style of management & manage a variety of cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational, team building, problem solving, planning, decision-making & interpersonal skills.
Understanding of engineering prints and specifications.
Proficiency in written and oral communications; PC software; and presentation skills.
An understanding of financial analysis concepts and budget management.
Must be willing to travel globally as needed and work excess hours when needed.
Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is willing to accept responsibility.
Successful candidate will have knowledge of automotive quality standards including APQP, DVP&R, 8D, PPAP, VE/VA, and FMEA.
