Job description
As a Senior Technician, you will be the heart of what keeps our Austin Timing lab running like clockwork. The whole Austin Timing Team will rely on you to maintain our inventory of critical lab supplies, order equipment & other items for engineering lab use, modify our Timing IC evaluation boards to run important experiments, and coordinate the calibration & repair of all our bench test equipment. Your technical expertise will be challenged with assisting engineers with lab measurements, developing printed circuit board (PCB) prototypes, debugging PCBs, fine-pitch soldering, and maintaining a software library for automated PCB testing using our existing templates. Your efforts will help us continue to dominate the high-end timing business by enabling engineers to focus on innovative technologies and timely solutions for our diverse customer base.
- Assist engineers in running their characterization setups in the lab to collect data
- Assist with debugging issues related to those setups
- Development of high-speed PCBs
- Development of lab automation software using existing templates
- Fine-pitch soldering
- Creative problem solving of new and unknown issues associated with cutting-edge technologies
- Development and oversight of lab processes and procedures to ensure high quality repeatable outcomes
- PCB modifications of fine-pitch surface mount components
- PCB rework of fine-pitch IC devices that include a center GND pad
- Prototyping of engineering designed circuits onto evaluation boards
- Manage an engineering lab consisting of test benches and soldering rework stations
- Maintaining an inventory of lab supplies including repurchasing of stocked items
- Purchasing non-capital items on request to support ongoing engineering work
- Managing purchase orders necessary to support ongoing engineering work
- Maintaining calibration schedules of all lab equipment
- Managing calibration and repair requirements with outside vendors
- Builds stable working relationships with the Timing engineering teams
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Hard-working
- Other duties as required
- A technology-related Associates degree plus 8 years of related experience. A technology-related Bachelor’s degree can reduce the experience required.
