Engineer Technician II

Performs technical support in such areas as research, design, development, testing with work pertaining to electronic, electrical, or mechanical components or equipment. Performs standardized assignments involving a sequence of related operations following standard work methods receiving explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments.

Specific Responsibilities of the Job:

• Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Collect equipment to send to calibration
• Assist with organizing and housekeeping
• Document and track maintenance activities performed
• Using reports, identify preventative maintenance requirements
• Generate Maximo Work Orders for corrective maintenance and ad-hoc maintenance activities
• Track and maintain lists of maintenance procedures
• Install, monitor, and service equipment and systems
• Perform/assist with test and evaluation, checkout, certification tasks. Perform validations/ verifications of various electronic systems
• Perform equipment/system installation, testing, fabrications and other tasks as needed
• Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout and contract requirements
• Requisition parts and materials to support laboratory maintenance and operations
• Performs other position related duties and responsibilities as directed

Education or Equivalent:
High School or Equivalent with some vocational/technical training beyond high school/ equivalent experience.

Experience:

• Five years of job-related experience or equivalent required.
• Good communications and analytical skills.
• May be required to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance

Knowledge/Skills Requirement:
Experience with support of ES&R Laboratories at KSC especially the Materials Analysis Laboratory and the Mechanical Evaluation and Testing Laboratory.
