Position Overview:

Partner with the French Curriculum Coordinator in developing one curriculum in two languages. Identify and implement initiatives for improving learning and achievement for every student in a bilingual environment. Bring evidence-based practices into English classrooms in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment and feedback. Coach, mentor and support all English teachers and English academic supervisors.


Key Responsibilities
:


  • Collaborate with the Maternelle and Lower school Principal and Assistant Principals as well as with the French Curriculum Coordinator to develop and implement one curriculum in two languages across all subject areas.
  • Serve as a resource person for English teachers and academic supervisors in curriculum and instruction across subject areas.
  • Ensure alignment between American standards and taught curriculum.
  • Study, evaluate and implement research-based curriculum and instruction. Lead special projects in language, math, science and other English subjects.
  • Develop, coordinate, monitor and update the English curriculum.
  • Assist in the coordination of relevant professional learning and growth.
  • Ensure that students’ accommodations, interventions and differentiation strategies are documented and communicated to families as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with teachers the implementation of support and enrichment programs.
  • Preview new instructional materials and arrange pilots and professional development.
  • Support administration with all accreditation processes.
  • Document the curriculum in collaboration with English teachers and French Curriculum Coordinator.
  • Administration, analysis, and communication of all English assessments.
  • Prepare, organize and lead all pedagogical meetings in collaboration with the French Curriculum Coordinator.
  • Provide opportunities for community education and discussion on parenting and child development.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers and Principals.
  • Participate with the Principal, Assistant Principals, Extended Care Directors and the Dean of students in the elaboration and planning of the after school homework support, English language classes and vacation camp.
  • Serve as a resource for families, faculty and administration in addressing concerns pertaining to students’ academic and socio emotional development.
  • Build genuine and trusting relationships, with a commitment to getting to know students and teachers individually. Establish collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community as well as fellow coordinators of French/American schools accreditation networks.
  • Attend school events and actively participate in the life of the community with authenticity, approachability and warmth.
  • Participate in student field trips and overnight trips as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Masters in Curriculum and Instruction preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in teaching and knowledge of early childhood and lower school development
  • Experience of educational leadership
  • Experience in international or independent school education
  • Experience with curriculum development and documentation
  • A commitment to student learning and experience implementing effective strategies and programs
  • Proficiency in English and French language, including oral and written skills
  • Recent professional development in best practices for curriculum development and teaching
  • Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities, projects and tasks
  • Technological proficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Ability to adapt and be a team player
  • A creative and innovative mindset
