Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time English faculty position. This position is located in River Forest, IL.

The English faculty member will teach general education courses in writing and literature, as well as all of the department's upper level courses in American Literature. The teaching load is 4-4 with an expectation of student advising, service to the university, and ongoing scholarship.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Teaches undergraduate English courses in composition and American Literature
  • Assists Program Lead in program development and revision of courses
  • Academically advises and mentors undergraduate students
  • Maintains an active program of scholarship including presentations and publications
  • Serves on faculty committees and carries out service activities (such as academic advising) as needed
  • Carries out other responsibilities as recommended or assigned
  • Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Minimum Experience Required:

3-5 years teaching with experience with first-year composition

Education Requirements:

  • An earned PhD in English with a specialization in American Literature is required.
  • Undergraduate certification or colloquy completion as a professional church worker in the LCMS is preferred.
