SUMMARY
This is a professional environmental scientist/engineer position. The incumbent serves as an integral member of our Project Delivery Teams. They work under the direction of multiple Project Managers to provide technical and operational support for the respective projects to which they are assigned. Work includes preparing proposals, planning and executing projects, developing and implementing project budgets, performing fieldwork, documenting and reporting field activities, and providing other management support. They work closely with other project professionals and clients. This position is located in Fairbanks, AK with limited travel throughout Alaska. Possible travel to Lower 48 for projects or training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for supporting the successful of delivery of federal projects in accordance with defined scope, budget, and schedule. Duties include conducting environmental site assessments, environmental permitting, environmental and operational planning, subsurface environmental investigations, delineation of contaminated sites, compliance assessments/audits, multimedia sampling, and environmental remediation services. Prepare work plans, interface with regulatory agencies, communicate with clients, document field activities, and prepare technical reports.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Near active completion of Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field, or Bachelor's degree in science, engineering or construction management.
- 3 or more years' experience
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred
- Experience in environmental and construction industry consulting preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and broad background with safety and health programs.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, multiple tasks, and changing conditions.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines without direct supervision.
- Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with a wide range of individuals.
- Ability to effectively respond to questions from executives, clients, customers, agencies, business partners, and the general public.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Geographical Experience. First-hand experience living and/or working in Alaska or a northern climate is strongly desired.
- US citizenship is required by Government contract.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office; especially, MS Word and MS Excel is strongly desired.
- Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
