Sheakley Workforce Management Services is currently seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Director for a position in Wichita, KS. Our client is one of the nation's leading equipment facilities

Our client's open position for Environmental Health and Safety Director is responsible for implementing safety directives for corporate compliance with environmental, occupational safety, and DOT requirements. This position will develop corporate policy for risk management and claim management.

$80-100K

What you will do in this job:

  • Implement plans to address potential sources of loss and the protection of human, financial and physical assets
  • Responsible for all aspects of safety compliance including OSHA, DOT, EPA, and MSHA compliance. Plan, administer and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Identify safety and health hazards associated with business activities. Establish guidelines for protection from those hazards
  • Oversee periodic environmental and safety inspection audits of the Company's properties and initiate corrective action to reduce costs and injuries and provide a safe working environment
  • Coordinate emergency response operations including medical, chemical, fire and evacuation/rescue, designating responders and arranging for any necessary training
  • Ensure the accuracy of training programs to managers and employees in work site safety and compliance
  • Participate in all federal, state and corporate investigations and inspections
  • Monitor the inspection of company facilities, work environments, machinery, and equipment to detect an existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measure have been implemented in conformance with governmental standards
  • Keep abreast on safety and environmental laws, to keep the company in compliance with regulatory agencies and other applicable laws
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or business or related fields
  • Three to five years in a company leadership position in environmental and safety
  • Excellent knowledge of all OSHA, DOT, environmental and EPA regulations and safety-related federal, state, and local regulations and laws
  • Ability to effectively train others
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement safety processes based on broader organizational goals
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations
  • Has had previous management of people
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations
