Location: Bohemia, NY

Hours: Sunday– Friday; 11:00pm – 7:30am

How you will make an impact…

The Equipment Operator, Folder – Gluer’s primary role is to set up, adjust, and operate a folding machine to fold printed materials to prescribed specifications, including types and number of folds, paper size, and thickness.

What you will do…

  • Prepare make-ready of the feeder, glue system, folder plates, right angle knife folder, delivery stacker, pack station and inspection systems.

  • Responsible for meeting customer fold specifications including construction types and number of folds, paper size, and thickness.

  • Set up and operate automated computer controlled integrated inspection system.

  • Operation includes the ability to continuously improve job make ready/setup times and production run speeds while maintaining strict quality standards in accordance with cGMP and SOPs.

  • Operate folder/gluer according to customer specifications and current standard operating procedures.

  • Ensure total quality of the job while in operation.

  • Maintain the machine and area in line with the standard operation procedures.

  • Maintain daily and monthly production goals and schedules proactively relaying any obstacles encountered to management to insure smooth operations.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment

  • Maintain the press and storage area in a constant state of cleanliness. This includes putting away tools and stock after use, properly disposing of all excess and scrap after each run, cleaning up any scrap or stock that may be on the floor and taking out the garbage at the end of the shift and maintaining the storage area.

  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Apply Good Manufacturing Principles in all areas of responsibility.

  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all pre and post press job operations as instructed by the Lead operator.

  • Assist with make-ready’s associated with designated Folders.

  • Retrieve and prepare materials for upcoming runs.

  • Responsible for post-production equipment cleaning.

  • Remove and segregate product.

  • Maintain the manufacturing warehouse in a clean and organized manner to ensure that F.I.F.O. inventory control is followed.

  • Understand and follow all SOPs that relate to the Folder Operation.

  • Maintain the pressroom in an organized manner in order to operate at the highest level of efficiency.

  • Follow all safety procedures when operating all manufacturing equipment or when handling chemicals.

  • All other press manufacturing related tasks.

How you will get here…

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience working with Folding equipment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate teamwork when essential to ensure jobs are completed per established timelines.

  • Computer literate with proven track record to comprehend and successfully transfer information between multiple internal computer programs

  • Proven solid ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.

  • Demonstrates expertise to work as a team, collaborate with colleagues and share workload as needed to provide quality customer support.

  • Knowledge and experience with cGMP compliance
