For over 13 years, Midwest Surgical Hospital has provided advanced surgical, outpatient/inpatient, and pain clinic services that are economical, convenient, and dramatically different than the typical hospital/institutional experience. Conveniently located in the heart of Omaha off of 84th and Dodge, Midwest Surgical Hospital is proudly physician owned, fully accredited by CIHQ (Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality), and licensed by CMS.

We are looking for an experienced Facilities Engineer/Stationary Engineer to help care for Midwest Surgical Hospital. This is a full-time benefits-eligible position working Monday - Friday days (on call - rotation). The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an environment caring for orthopedic, neurosurgery (adult and some pediatric) and ENT patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Function within policies and procedures of MSH. Function within specific policies of engineering department.
  • Ability to be courteous with staff, visitors and patients.
  • Working knowledge of high pressure steam boilers and accessories.
  • Utilize appropriate channels of communication. Keep supervisors informed of activities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in hours worked. Available for after hours and weekend responsibilities and emergencies as needed.
  • Assist with projects as directed by supervisors and completes tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in general errands for MSH. Conscientious in returning borrowed equipment to the appropriate surgery department.
  • Assist in records keeping as directed by supervisors.
  • Function effectively in an emergency situation or when under stress. Remain calm and follow direction.
  • Create a safe, healthy environment for one’s self, fellow employees, patients and visitors by complying with all hospital/departmental safety, and infection control guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, to include lighting and ballasts.
  • Understanding of Energy Management Systems.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education required
  • Stationary Engineer's License - Grade 3 from the City of Omaha.
  • Valid NE driver’s license.
  • Experience in a hospital envionment, preferred.
  • Will occasionally be exposed to situations requiring the ability to lift 100 pounds. Must be able to exert at least 15 pounds of force to assist with moving equipment. Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and walking involved.
