Description of Duties:
The Facilities Electrical Design Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
- Focus on medium and low voltage (12,470 volts to 120 volt circuits) industrial systems, project installation, and inspection.
- Develop specifications, scopes of work and detailed electrical design drawings for all projects related to MDIOC Facilities electrical Infrastructure.
- Be responsible for equipment upgrades and extensive modifications, equipment and system replacement projects, and equipment rehabilitation projects.
- Evaluate design changes, specifications and drawing releases related to Facilities projects.
- Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
- Frequently acts as the electrical engineering subject matter expert (SME) on projects.
- Support project managers with coordination of project implementation and documentation.
- Systems of responsibility will include but not be limited to:
- Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS)
- Motor control centers
- 12,470 switch gear and main breakers
- 480 volt substations
- 480 volt breakers
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
- Grounding systems
- Control voltage systems
The successful candidate will:
- Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
- Be able to work well with others.
This position will be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO
This position is expected to pay $83,000 - $93,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Basic Requirements:
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree and 0 years of general experience
- Must have 2 years of experience in an engineering field
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree, or higher, from an accredited college in electrical engineering
- Must have an understanding of basic electrical theories, codes and principles with emphasis on 3-phase power
- Must be familiar with engineering standards and building codes
- Must have, or be able to obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
- Have 2 years of experience in building infrastructure electrical systems
- Have experience with CAD software
- Have experience with electrical design for facility upgrade and maintenance projects within a DoD environment
- Have experience with Bentley MicroStation or REVIT
