Hampstead Hospital & Residential Treatment Facility (HHRTF)
is an acute inpatient psychiatric hospital and a residential treatment program that treats children, adolescents, and young adults. HHRTF is located in a beautiful setting in southern New Hampshire that provides plenty of outdoor areas to play, walk, and promote well-being. Children deserve to have healthy and happy childhoods so that they can grow into wholesome and happy adults. Our devoted team is here to provide these children, adolescents, and young adults with the encouragement and positive relationships to build a brighter tomorrow.

How you make a difference:
The Family Advocate for the Hampstead Hospital Residential Treatment Facility (HHRTF) is an integral part of the treatment team who provides personalized services to families of patients with mental illness. They serve as a liaison between the family and treatment team, engaging with them before, during and after admission. The Family Advocate Hampstead also assists families in navigating the mental health system and prepares them for the next level of care, primarily in the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility, but may have additional responsibilities throughout the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Engages with families of patients before, during, and after admission, and participates in initial interviews with new admissions and their families.
  • Offers parent support and education sessions, works with parents to address barriers to successful integration of the child back into the home, and provides input for the treatment plan regarding interventions that will assist the patient and family meet the therapeutic goals.
  • Participates in therapeutic sessions and psychoeducational sessions, educates families on the program's philosophy, and participates in Aftercare services as appropriate.
  • Serves as the hospital's champion for Better Together and Parent Partner programs and maintains documentation of family and patient contacts in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Complies with employee standards of the company and applicable employee standards of the HHRTF, notifies supervisor of problems requiring attention, and demonstrates appropriate boundaries with family members and patients at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
  • High School Diploma
Experience
  • A person who has had a child or family member receiving services within the mental health system.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) as required by site contract.
Compliance
  • Aligned with NH’s System of Care, supporting services that are: family-driven, youth-guided, community-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally and linguistically competent.
