Program Summary
Family Services helps immigrant families, including families with children with special needs, cope with
challenging issues and adjust to their new lives in the United States by providing parent education, case
management, counseling and support services, and community engagement.

Position Overview
The Family Clinician per diem will be responsible for making regular home visits to families who are
referred to BCNC by the Department of Children and Families (DCF). The Family Clinician will work with the
family toward goals such as family stabilization, parenting, communication, psychoeducation on child
development and mental health, helping the family navigate the social and health care systems, providing
information and referrals, and applying for eligible resources.

BCNC receives referrals on a state-wide basis. The Family Clinician’s caseload depends on referral.
The position will be reimbursed for the following:

  • Home visit session
  • Car travel time
  • Weekly 15-min SOAP note documentation
  • Monthly 15-min summary report
  • Up to 15 minutes of a phone call with family
  • And up to 15 minutes of phone call communication with providers
  • No associated benefits


This position is a contractual 1099 position and reports to the Director of Family Services.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule regular home visits with family (depending on intensity, 1-2 times per week).
• Assess, develop, evaluate, and monitor treatment goals.
• Complete initial intake, interpretation summary, and necessary consent forms.
• Communicate with involved providers to coordinate appropriate treatment services.
• Document and submit progress summaries to DCF on a monthly basis.
• Email DCF brief update about family progress on a biweekly basis.
• Weekly 15-min phone call check-in with BCNC supervisor.
• Attend monthly clinical consultation meetings led by an external LICSW consultant (optional).




What We Look For

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field.
  • Bilingual in an Asian language.
  • Knowledge of legal, child protection (Department of Children and Families), health and mental
health, and social service systems.
  • Valid driver's license, access to a personal vehicle, and safe driving record.
  • Capability to establish effective therapeutic relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and writing.
  • Organizational and time management skills.


Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require travel to other locations occasionally.
  • Normal office conditions. Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment, includes

the operation of computer equipment for six to eight hours daily, physical demands associated with
a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as
necessary.
