About Acorn Center
- Under the supervision of the Acorn Director to develop, update, implement, and submit the program’s Family Engagement and Comprehensive Services Plan annually to the Headstart Manager and Acorn Director.
- Engage and recruit parents to the Acorn and Headstart Family Councils to assess the quality of family engagement work.
- Work collaboratively with the Educational Coordinator to observe and support children with behavioral and developmental concerns.
- Communicate with families, make referrals with BCNC Family Service team and collaborative partner agencies (Headstart) and schedule teacher parent conferences as needed.
- Keeps in regular contact with Acorn Headstart families through home visits twice a year.
- Develop with parents a family plan and support with resources and encouragement tracking progress.
- Coordinate parent and/or family activities, such as field trips and other in-person and/or virtual activities.
- Ensure that the ASQ questionnaires are conducted within 45 days of enrollment for Acorn students.
- Develop and maintain respectful, supportive, and ongoing relationships with all Acorn families, educators, administrators, and community partners.
- Participate in enrollment recruitment, marketing efforts, school tours, and parent orientations.
- Maintain documentation/recordkeeping of children and families in accordance with agency and contract regulations.
- Attend required staff meetings and professional development trainings as assigned by Acorn and other funding agencies to full fill grant requirements.
- Attend monthly check-in meetings as required by Acorn and Headstart.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.
- With the support from the Childcare Director, the Educator Coordinator, and the Assistant Director oversee the Acorn program in the absence of the Acorn Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- B.A. required in ECE or Child Development Field.
- Required at least 1 year of work experience.
- Must meet Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) health and background check requirements.
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR within 6 months of employment.
- Proficiency in Windows, MS Office, Google Docs, and related applications.
- Bilingual in oral and written skills in English, Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with children and families with and/or without disabilities.
- Ability to work in a team environment and take charge of individual assignments and tasks.

Working Conditions
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday.
- Work is performed primarily in a standard work environment, including the operation of computer equipment, and physical demands associated with a traditional work setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.
