Job description
Department: 3670020060 Biology
Job no: 515275
Employment type: Post Doc (Term)
Location: Manhattan, Kansas
Worksite: On-site requirement
Categories: Applied Sciences, Natural / Quantitative Sciences
Pay Grade: 001

About This Role:
The Division of Biology, Kansas State University, seeks a highly motivated scientist to investigate mechanisms of translational regulation in eukaryotes in the laboratory of Dr. Katsura Asano.

This project is funded by an NIH grant and aimed at identifying rate-limiting steps in start codon selection, using computational approaches. Specifically, the candidate has an expertise in computational work, in order to generate and analyze molecular dynamics simulations datasets. A method such as adaptive biasing force method is applied to evaluate the binding free energy and stepwise binding pathway in codon: anticodon binding in the ribosomal P-site. Specifically, the candidate is expected to independently reproduce the work described in the first paper listed below. The members of the Asano lab actively collaborate with computational biology experts world-wide. The selected candidate will be offered appropriate advice from these experts related to steps needed to do the work. The position starts as early as June 25 , 2023 and ends on June 22, 2024. The renewal of this position depends on funding availability.
