General Purpose and Scope of Position:
Wilbur-Ellis is seeking an Agriculture Field Scout to support our Central Coast California crop research and development efforts and branch operations in various agriculture aspects while building partnerships among key teams to deliver relevant data and tools to those individuals who drive the relationships with our customers. This is a seasonal position.
Key Skills and Abilities Include:
- Knowledge and/or experience with agricultural operations (preferred)
- Intermediate level proficiency with standard software including MS Office Suite
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle within state laws and company policies and guidelines
- Requires excellent interpersonal skills between both customers and fellow employees
- Ability to repetitively bend, kneel and walk long distances while working in a non-climate-controlled environment and outside in inclement weather
- Excellent math skills and the ability to maintain accurate counts
- Dependability/reliability. Occasionally may need to work Saturdays
- Good interpersonal skills
- Work independently driving to field locations, collecting data, and communicating with growers and colleagues
Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:
- Complete the tasks and activities outlined by the Manager and/or Mentor
- Conform to the normal working hours of the Wilbur-Ellis location
- Monitor & maintain field trials, collect data, schedule field visits with cooperators, etc.
- Support the employer, keep the employer's business confidential, and work for the employer's best interest
- Comply with company safety standards
- Submit a final project, a PowerPoint presentation of the internship
Compensation and Benefits:
In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $18.41-23.32 per hour. Note that wages may vary based on location, skills, and experience.
