JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Financial Aid Analyst
Job Summary:
This position works under general supervision and reports to the Dean of Enrollment Management. Duties will include processing internet application submissions, processing application paper work, processing transcript requests, assisting in obtaining, processing and packaging student financial aid information.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Minimal oversight of student workers
Duties and Responsibilities:
Become well versed in federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations (including some IRS tax filing regulations) and award student aid accordingly. Interact effectively with multiple departments (Admissions, Registrar, Advising, Business Office, Faculty, etc.) to award/disburse financial aid accurately and in a timely manner. Review student’s transcripts and/or class schedules to verify aid eligibility. Interact and communicate with students, parents and school staff regarding financial aid opportunities and relative eligibility requirements. Assist students/parents with completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Assist with the review and submittal of educational certifications to the Department of Veteran Affairs for students receiving veteran education benefits. Assist with the maintaining and updating of the Financial Aid Policies & Procedures Manual. Coordinate the online scholarship application platform
Skills and Abilities:
Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience with higher education, PowerFAIDS &/or Jenzabar preferred. Proficiency with general office equipment (copy machine, fax machine, printers, etc.) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed. Ability to work flexible hours.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in general business or related field
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in general business or related field; plus one year of experience in student financial aid or related area
Physical Requirements:
Extensive computer usage, long periods of sitting, minimal lifting on occasion
