Position Title: Financial Analyst Facility: Cogentrix Energy Power Management, LLC
Department: Finance Location: Princeton, NJ/Charlotte, NC
Reports to: Finance Manager Date: November 15, 2022

Cogentrix is a leading independent power producer with a long track record of successfully acquiring, developing,
operating, improving and divesting power generation assets. Cogentrix is one of the world’s largest alternative
asset management firms. Cogentrix has been directly involved in the development, ownership, operations and
management of natural gas-fired assets. Through the ownership and operation of these plants, Cogentrix has
participated in most of the major power regions in the U.S.
Responsibilities
The Financial Analyst reviews the financial matters of power plant and related entities, provides financial
perspective and support to various Managers and other team members. With guidance from their supervisor, the
Analyst completes the finance functions, provides stakeholders with projected and reported results, performs short
and long term financial analyses, and assists in preparation and analyses of budgets and forecasts. In addition, the
Analyst monitors daily trading activities to ensure adherence to credit and cash management policies and
procedures.
Deliverables
Evaluate counterparties’ financial condition to determine creditworthiness
Monitor trading activity in relation to credit limits and contractual terms
Assist in contract negotiation and documentation
Prepares and analyzes plant and corporate budgets, forecasts and cash flows
Ensures 5-year plans are complete, analyzes results and assists in preparation of 5-year
presentation plans
Works with project teams to prepare plant and corporate budget presentations
Supports project cash planning activities, particularly long-term projections, focusing on liquidity needs and
covenant compliance
Assists in administration of all project-financing documents involving borrowing, debt service and reporting
to lenders
Analyzes monthly results, explaining actual to budget variances
Prepares monthly financial reporting for senior management, including drafting of narratives
Assists in preparation and analysis of quarterly and year-end reporting provided to internal and external
parties
Prepares ad hoc financial analyses, information updates, and reporting as needed
Support due diligence activities related to M&A, divestures and preparation of financial models for
management and board review.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
Prior experience working with Credit Agreements, ISDA and NAESB Master Agreements and associated
credit provisions
Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) preferred
3-5 years’ relevant experience
Excellent technical competence with strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with employees across entire organization
Strong organizational skills with ability to simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines
Knowledge of accounting principles
Proficiency utilizing modeling tools, presentation software, and MicroSoft Suite
Preferred Requirements
Prior experience and understanding of the power industry
