Salary range: $90K to $105K
Seeking:
Not for Profit organization providing a diversified range of services to young adults living with developmental disabilities funded by Medicaid and private insurance through the auspices of the New York State Office of Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) seeks a seasoned full-time Controller.
The candidate is a results-driven confident individual to oversee and manages a five-staff finance department. Bring innovation, leadership, and discipline to the accounting department's performance while constructing solid communication bridges with the executive and program director (s). Duties include accurately gathering, organizing, and reporting data to be recorded in the general ledger under GAAP and funding guidelines. Evaluating various monthly, quarterly, and annual internal reports while ensuring financial solid viability in the organization. Monitoring compliance with OPWDD regulation. Preparing and publishing internal financial statements, analyzing data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue vs. expenses, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information. Strategic financial planning, exceptional numerical proficiency, and developing and implementing strong internal controls will lead to achieving organizational targets.
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving ability, a flair for numbers, be highly organized, and have excellent leadership skills. The noteworthy financial controller should have a clear vision of what targets and how to achieve it by maximizing internal resources while streamlining functions and operations. Should lead a positive and constructive integration with the organization's different programs.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing internal financial reports.
- Gathering, organizing, and reporting financial data.
- Monitoring full compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare and monitor the annual operating budget.
- Prepare and provide analysis and recommendations on the program budget.
- Prepare a comparison of budget vs. actual quarterly reports. Program and Operating budgets.
- Maintain positive and constructive communications with funding, banking, auditing, and regulatory principles.
- Develop new systems while taking advantage of the latest technologies.
- Developing three and five-year financial goals for growth.
- Evaluating and managing risk.
- Coordinating audit processes.
Financial Controller Requirements:
- Advanced degree in accounting or equivalent.
- Tree to five years of experience in finance management. Preferably within a non-profit environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Excellent people skills.
- Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals.
- Auditing experience.
- Compliance oriented.
- Proficiency with accounting software.
- Analytical skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Non-Profit, governmental funding.
- Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD),
- Knowledge of accounting and billing software.
- Familiar with preparing schedules to file the annual Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR).
- A plus is familiar with IRA (Individualized Residential Alternative) and Day and Community habilitation programs.
