This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)
The incumbent installs, maintains, repairs, modifies, aligns, tests, troubleshoots and overhauls a variety of functional subsystems integrated within the life safety fire protection alarm system as well as various other electronic alarm systems, electronic control system and electronic motor generator and motor controllers, which require knowledge of a wide range of electronic principles and practices. Systems are located at all industrial buildings, plants, barracks, office buildings, etc. throughout the zones.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install or upgrade fire alarm systems according to NFPA 72 AND NFPA 70 standards.
- Comply with all safety regulations and standards.
- Respond to emergency, urgent, and routine service calls during normal business hours, and after hours.
- Complete detailed inspection reports documenting deficiencies that need to be corrected. Email customers detailed inspection test forms.
- Perform annual inspections to ensure fire alarm systems are installed according to code NFPA 72 and NFPA 70.
- Test and repair fire alarm systems already in place.
Must have experience in:
- NICET certification preferred or requires prior experience or training
- Knowledge of NFPA standards a plus including NFPA 70 and NFPA 72
- Experienced with various fire panels such as Siemens, Notifier, Edwards, Fire lite, Bosch, and other fire panels not mentioned.
- Troubleshooting and programming skills of various Fire Panels.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other computer programs necessary to perform the job of a fire alarm mechanic.

Requirements for all NAVFAC Positions:
- A US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
