Primary Purpose

Load, unload, hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials with supervision.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Utilize thorough knowledge of loading and unloading procedures in accordance with company, federal, state, and local regulations/rules.
  • Assist in unloading Dump Trailer, Roll-Off Boxes, and Tankers of hazardous material into appropriate treatment pits.
  • Uses water hoses to de-con trucks in CBW/CBR buildings, operates reagent delivery systems, sumps pumps and maintains general housekeeping.
  • Performs basic spill cleanup with little direction.
  • Review laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials.
  • Understand chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues.
  • Understand and follow related state, and federal rules for waste management.
  • Maintain operating logs.
  • Responsible for keeping operating area walls, pipes, and floor in a clean and safe condition.
  • Operate fork truck, Bobcat, attachments and other HES vehicles.
  • Basic chemical knowledge (pH, Acid, Base, Oxidizer).

Education: High school diploma or its equivalent required.

Experience: 1 year of related experience and 24-40 hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Basic knowledge of EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations preferred. Ability to understand general industry practices. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Ability to wear personal protective equipment. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
