Flight Dynamics Analyst - Human Landing System (HLS) - Entry Level
Job description
In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) contract in the near future, Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a Flight Dynamics Analyst to promote HLS and other programs as part of a diverse team that develops lunar landers, other cislunar spacecraft, and a wide range of critical technologies for civil, military, and commercial space programs. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Flight Dynamics Analyst will boost modeling and simulation development of various phases of the Dynetics directed HLS. This analyst will perform a detailed study of flexible and rigid body simulations, separation dynamics, orbit dynamics, trajectory analysis, vehicle sizing, and optimization studies across a multi-disciplinary team.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Candidate will have less than 2 years of direct applicable work history (or internship) as detailed above.
- Candidate will have a well-founded comprehension of orbit mechanics, trajectory simulation, optimization methodology, statistics, mass properties, and conceptual design.
- Candidate will demonstrated past work in modeling and simulation of aerospace vehicles (3DOF, 6DOF, Monte Carlo, etc.)
- Candidate will have knowledge and past work writing software in one or more scientific or engineering programming languages such as MatLAB, Octave, Simulink, Python, FORTRAN, C, C++, or Java.
- The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a combined engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
Candidates will be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Other Qualifications
Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in an Engineering field or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:
- Aerospace simulation tools such as OTIS, POST, TAOS, Copernicus, GMAT, or Systems Tool Kit
- Demonstrate an understanding of multi-body dynamics simulations tools such as TREETOPS, ADAMS, or DSENDS
- Have a passion for KSP
