SUMMARY OF DUTIES
This positions will support the Agreement Supervisor in Astoria material control leading day to day activities and assisting the workforce in maintaining a safe work place as well, working execption reports and providing exellent customer service to the internal Mechanical customer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain the inventory and issuance of all inventory items
- Coordinate and manage the cycle counting program and maintain the department’s benchmark variance weekly
- Lead and direct the daily agreement staff (8 employees)
- Suggest and streamline business processes within the warehouse
- Able to be on call 24/7 – 365 days a year, to call for reserve overtime and respond to on site emergencies
- Promote and support an enriched safety environment
- Attend tri-weekly BAM conference call
- Run and maintain all SAP reports daily
- Maintain local on-site facility support for the storeroom
- Pay vendor invoices and requisition through AOD
- Assist in the onboarding of new employees to Procurement & Logistics group
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, problem solving to guide and support his staff to achieve goals consistent with departmental and corporate programs and objectives within budgetary constraints
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of cycle counts and methods to maintain and improve location and inventory validity and accuracy
- Satisfactory prior job performance
- Extensive experience demonstrating skill-managing people, programs and/or projects and managing warehouse operations
- Knowledge of SAP logistics processes and software
- Ability to multitask and complete deadlines as assigned.
- Comply with Amtrak standards of excellence, safety rules, and all other policies/procedures
- Must be OSHA forklift certified
- Must have valid drivers’ license
- Must be DOT HazMat certified
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- All other duties as assigned
The hourly rate is $40.64 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment). In accordance with DOT regulations (49 CFR § 40.25), Amtrak is required to obtain prior drug and alcohol testing records for applicants/employees intending to perform safety-sensitive duties for covered Department of Transportation positions. If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.
In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for public transportation ( Title 6 U.S.C. § 1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
