Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include two plywood and four lumber manufacturing plants, and fifteen specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fourteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.

We are seeking high performing and motivated person for a Forklift Operator position at our sawmill located in Bogalusa, LA. This position is in our Sawmill department on night shift and your main responsibilities will be to unload lumber from our stacker and placing them into the correct location in the mill. Will also unload boards and freight trucks and will load the stacker and perform other duties as directed by the supervisor. Hours will be from approximately 3:30pm – 1:00am. The Sawmill department operates Monday thru Friday and will work one Sunday every other week.

Required Experience:

Our forklifts are the size of a tractor; thus, prior but recent experience driving a forklift in a production/industrial environment is required. Preference will be given to those who have recent experience moving/stacking heavy, bulky items (like 16 foot and 20 foot lumber packs). High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.

• Have a proven job history for staying at most jobs for a long period of time. You understand that you will never grow and expand your skills you commit to a company and are in the position to take on additional responsibility and training.

• Know that every person that works here is a very important part of our operation. When someone unexpectedly calls out, comes in late or leaves before the end of the work shift, this causes a hardship to all those that work around you. Thus, we place a high valve on overall work attendance.

• We expect you to THINK. If it looks dangerous, stop and let us talk about it. If you see a better way of doing something, tell us about it.

• Are not afraid of working in rain, cold or hot weather. Production continues even when the weather is not that great. Thus, forklift operators are loading and unloading lumber in the rain and cold/hot weather.

• Starting pay rate of $16.25/hour and will progress to $18.90/hour when you have met all the certification standards to work in your department (typically takes 3-7 months)
• $1/hour night shift differential is paid for hours worked between 5pm – 5a.
