Overview
- Follow company guidelines for providing quality customer service by greeting customers with a smile, offering assistance, suggesting alternatives when necessary and thanking them for shopping. Always maintain a positive and friendly attitude. Answer customer questions.
- Ensure fresh quality merchandise by using proper product handling and bagging techniques. Help with controlling damages and minimizing product losses according to company procedures and standards.
- Assist in the recruitment and hiring of the most qualified applicants to meet the needs of the front end.
- Train, coach and manage all cashiers in all front-end policies and procedures, including new cashiers and cross training of other associates.
- Supervise and schedule cashiers and ensure compliance with payroll budgets.
- Be aware of all areas of possible loss due to theft, shoplifting, fraud, and/or carelessness. Maintain proper security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures. Responsible for all funds including cash, checks, debit/credit slips and coupons. Follow all store and legal guidelines regarding sale of tobacco and alcohol.
- Communicate all information to cashiers regarding special promotions and sale items. Generate sales by suggestive selling.
- Expedite front lines, direct flow of customers, and ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment.
- Oversee compliance of the front end with established Company policies and standards, such as Lane Accountability, Cash, Refund, Anti-Money Laundering and Void audits.
- Help solve problems that affect the service, efficiency, and productivity of the front end.
- Ensure smooth workflow within department by cooperating with co-workers and superiors. Strive to continuously improve job performance.
- Follow sanitation guidelines to maintain department conditions. Ensure compliance with health regulations, weights requirements, and measures and labeling laws according to company, state, federal and OSHA regulations. Dispose of trash properly.
- Complete other job duties as requested by management.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Current students, High school diploma or equivalent desireable
Knowledge and Skills
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to understand simple math.
Experience dealing with customers helpful.
Ability to multi-task.
Hearing (listening)
Lifting up to 35 lbs
Reaching & grasping in a confined area
Operating front-end equipment
