Purpose: Full Scale Logistics is looking for an experienced Truck Dispatcher for our Hartley Texas Operations Hub.

FSL Truck Dispatcher will report to FSL Operations Manager and Dispatcher Manager. Meeting the daily responsibilities of this position requires that the truck dispatcher complete various tasks in the course of their workday. The dispatcher will be responsible for efficiently staffing our trucking needs in the field, ensuring that the truck driver’s paperwork is completed and turned in in a timely fashion. S/he will also work closely with the diesel mechanic shop to make sure trucks and trailers are being repaired and put back on the road in an efficient manner to ensure proper allocation of equipment. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).

Truck Dispatcher Duties and Responsibilities

Meeting the daily responsibilities of this position requires that the truck dispatcher complete various tasks in the course of their workday. The dispatcher will be responsible for efficiently staffing our trucking needs in the field, ensuring that the truck driver’s paperwork is completed and turned in in a timely fashion. S/he will also work closely with the diesel mechanic shop to make sure trucks and trailers are being repaired and put back on the road in an efficient manner to ensure proper allocation of equipment.

  • Develop and nurture positive relationships with the diesel shop to facilitate the movement of trucks and drivers throughout our operation.
  • Develop and nurture a positive relationship with all drivers.
  • Track trucks and trailers to make sure you know where they are at all time * Be open minded and nimble, ready to pull trucks from one job to service another per direction from the president or operations manager*
  • Communicate to our drivers the job they need to report to on a daily basis.
  • Communicate verbally or in written form to all drivers the destination and drop off locations
  • Train drivers on proper scale house techniques and policies/procedures (getting all four wheels on the scale for proper weights, etc)
  • Track time of truck drivers to make sure they are on task
  • Ensure drivers know how to accurately complete the necessary paperwork and when and where to turn it in (DVIR, scale tickets, etc)
  • Ensure drivers turn in completed paperwork in a timely fashion and that it gets to its destination in a time fashion to ensure proper and timely invoicing for the job
  • Strive to maintain a smooth operation by ensuring efficiency, planning, human and equipment resources, and safety procedures
  • Communicate with Account Coordinator to make sure information is arriving timely and filled out completely
  • Send back-up trucks to locations in case there is a break down
  • Oversee, manage and train drivers on HOS, ELD etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Truck Dispatcher Skills

  • Strong verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with drivers, vendors, managers, customers
  • Strong written communication skills are vital in producing the reports generated in this position.
  • Able to independently, with little or no supervision
  • Possess strong decision-making, problem-solving, time management, and analytical skills.

Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
  • 1+ year Dispatching experience
  • Ability to work night or evening shifts and rotating weekends
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Excel
