MTC is currently seeking candidates interested in a General Clerk II-Mailroom. This position is responsible for performing postal duties in the mailroom requiring familiarity with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.


Essential Functions:

  • Process all incoming and outgoing detainee correspondence, prepare forms and maintain records and files related to detainee correspondence.
  • Sort, open, inspect and scan detainee correspondence. Maintain related records. Deliver detainee mail.
  • Act as authorized courier for receipt of registered, special delivery or other mails received for employees and/or detainees.
  • Sort departmental mail.
  • Provide information and responses to inquiries regarding routine mailroom procedures.
  • Maintain contact with US Postal Service personnel and private mail carriers (i.e., UPS, Federal Express, etc.).
  • Operate postal equipment and ascertain postage needed.
  • Assist in preparing various forms related to the processing of detainee correspondence and mailroom functions.
  • Deliver outgoing mail each afternoon to the post office.
  • Requires regular pushing and pulling of mail carts.
  • Requires long periods of walking and standing.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required and one (1) year related experience required. Must successfully complete required pre service training. US Citizenship required. Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
