Job Summary

Manager runs shift of 8-10 hours per day. Manager is responsible for opening store, making daily allotment of vegetables, and bread(s) for shifts; must manage fresh bread production throughout shift. Responsible for supervising in shop and driver employees; some shifts responsible for inventory, creating, inputting, and supervising delivery of product. Manager makes decisions about hiring, firing, promotion, demotion, with input and consent from owners. GM is responsible for creating shift schedules.

Essential Functions

  • Manages employees on shift: responsible for employees doing tasks listed below as well.
  • Coordinate with next manager to make next shift successful.
  • Know how to open and close shifts through computer system.
  • Manage bank deposits
  • Answer phones within 3 rings with a friendly and brisk greeting
  • Accurately take phone orders for in-shop, drive-thru, deliveries and pickups and enter into the point-of-sale system always reading the order back to the customer
  • Take and input information for credit card payments
  • Manage the assembly and coordination of delivery and pickup orders
  • Maintain an open, friendly service oriented demeanor
  • Make and announce sandwich orders:
  • Bread slicing and mayo measurement/spreading
  • Meat and cheese pulling and sandwich assembly
  • Sandwich wrapping
  • Pickle cutting and wrapping
  • Restock the make lines
  • Create and manage punch list and perform preparation and cleaning procedures
  • Manage bread production throughout shift: stretch dough, proof dough, bake bread, and consolidate bread loaves
  • Receive/listen to customer questions/issues and work to resolve
  • Assist with ingredient deliveries boxes up to 50 pounds
  • Use the online schedule management system
  • Perform other duties as assigned*

Education & Work Experience

  • High school diploma or better preferred
  • Previous work as in shopper, preferable having worked both in shop and as a driver, worked as a Person in charge
  • Successfully complete the formal Jimmy Johns training program (two weeks)

Knowledge & Skills, and Ability

  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in English
  • Effective leadership as a Bread Starter; ability to perform manual sandwich-making tasks
  • Ability to work with urgency and speed
  • Able to work on computer: When to Work Program, inventory, JJ Macromatics
  • Ability to communicate politely and effectively work with staff and customers
  • General knowledge of workplace issues: employee expectations, discipline, and general issues of employment.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds,
  • Carry deliveries of up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Carry and stow boxes of up to 50lbs. Truck deliveries are 4-6 days/week
  • Exchange information in person and over the telephone
  • Read cash register screen
  • Have the mobility to move about quickly in a typical fast food restaurant environment

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is often loud
  • Direction of work and work coordination are done in voices raised over the music/noise level of the restaurant
  • The environment is fast paced and intense
  • Work occasional holidays, nights, and/or weekends when workload dictates need.
  • Be available to manage issues as they arise when not on shift (GM).

Bonus Program

  • General Manager and Assistant are included in the bonus program
  • Bonus potential is a percentage of store royalty sales for each fiscal period.
  • Bonus potential is divided into key goal areas:
  • Cost of Goods Sold 25% of total bonus potential
  • Labor cost 25%
  • Out the Door Time performance 16%
  • Sampling 16%
  • Managing Completely eg, assessment scores, proper scheduling, administrative performance, training, strong communicating skills, clocking breaks, etc. 18%
