Job Summary:
The General Surgeon Nocturnist will aid patients at a medical center in Shiprock, NM. It is a 60-bed medical center and has one of the largest patient volumes in the region. It provides the following primary and specialty care services in inpatient and outpatient care services: medical-surgical, pediatric inpatient, labor and delivery, intensive care units, internal medicine, family practice, urgent and emergency care, women's health, mental health, pharmacy, optometry, dental, radiology, public health nursing, medical social services, health promotion/disease prevention and traditional medicine.

Tour of Duty: 7 pm to 7 am Wednesday through Sunday. Will allow for short or long-term contracts. General surgical census in house is 2-3 patients. Generally, 1-2 admits per night.
Job Classification: Full Time Contract
Supervisory Responsibilities: None but serve as a mentor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform general surgery (Nocturnist) physician duties and manage patient's needs in accordance with the competency standards listed in the facility’s Medical Staff By-Laws.
- Provide professional medical services or direct patient care services under the terms of the contract by participating in the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures involved in the examination, treatment, and care of the surgical patients.
- Not required to do endoscopies. Patients age 5 and up. May do central lines and chest tubes. Typical procedures are GB and appendix. 99% adults. No trauma or thoracic.
- Will cross-cover with the inpatient General Surgery service and admit new patients to the hospital.
- Obtain consultation with members of the General Surgery staff and other anesthesia staff on matters of patient care when questions arise.
- Review clinical records and adhere to records documentation procedures to ensure records are properly maintained.
- Be subject to technical direction and/or guidance of the designated government official.
- Complete patient documentation using the Electronic Health Record.
- Other duties as assigned and needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Required: Possess related experience and possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree; candidate must be either Board Eligible as per ABIM regulations or ABIM certified.
- Required: Completed approved and accredited residency program in the U.S.A.
- Required: Possess a current, valid, unrestricted, applicable license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract.
- Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
- Required: Must possess a current, unrestricted DEA license. License verification must be provided at the time of application.
- Required: Must possess a valid ID or state driver’s license throughout the term of this contract.
- Required: Must be able to pass a federal background check.
- License verification, education, and certifications must be provided at the time of application and can be emailed to certification@chloeta.com.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to frequently lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing/walking.
- At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
- At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.

Pre-employment Requirements:
This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, criminal background check (state and federal), drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, education verification, employment verification, and/or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides and the responsibilities of this position.
Drug and Alcohol Testing:
To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):
Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.
Emergency Response:
Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
