JOB SUMMARY

The Genomic Scientist possesses a broad range of expertise including genomics, bioinformatics, molecular pathology, and database building and management. Primary responsibilities include performing NGS-based genomic data interpretation and result interpretation of other clinical assays; preparing drafts of molecular pathology reports; expanding the test menu by developing new molecular assays using next generation sequencing and other PCR based technologies; performing and troubleshooting clinical assays; and participating in education and translational projects as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualizing new molecular assays by compiling literature in public domain and determine relevant gene targets for specific clinical needs.
• Performs all aspects of work for creating new assays including proper documentation of experiments and data analyses. Produces final deliverables: assay validation reports, and assay standard operating procedures (SOP).

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• PhD in Molecular Biology or related field
• Direct experience with next generation sequencing and clinical laboratory
