Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Graduate Coordinator for Terps for Change is a position responsible for fostering student involvement in co-curricular service-learning, assisting with outreach and recruitment efforts, and assisting with assessment efforts. This position will have the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience related to: program management and development, leadership and service-learning theory and practice, supervision, student development, budgeting, advising, and working with a diverse student population.

Responsibilities:
  • Attend and assist with the implementation of Monday Night Meetings (student development trainings also known as MNMs) every Monday from 4:00pm-5:30pm (1.5 hours per week).
  • Supervise and manage Terps for Change Coordinators. (8.5hrs)
  • Student Leader Training (MNMs and Retreats)
  • Advise student coordinators through 1-on-1 meetings.
  • Attend 1-2 dialogue observations per semester.
  • Serve on the Terps for Change Leadership Team (6.5hrs)
  • Plan and facilitate weekly Terps for Change staff meetings.
  • Supervise two Terps for Change Interns.
  • Attend Terps for Change Leadership meetings.
  • Assist with large Terps for Change Projects (1-2hrs)
  • Ensure that logistics have been completed including but not limited to: room reservations, food orders, technological needs, transportation issues, and other material preparation.
  • Work with Education Intern to create new activities for the Coordinator activity bank for the new curriculum.
  • Work with Marketing and Outreach Intern on the implementation of the new Scholarship program including participating in our fundraising events.
  • Work with the program coordinator to develop, update, implement, and analyze assessment data (1-2 hours per week).
  • Develop and administer performance evaluations of Terps for Change interns and coordinators.
  • Assist with program assessment.
  • Create and implement assessments for Terps for Change programs.
  • Create end-of-semester and end-of-year reports for LCSL and Terps for Change staff.
  • Other duties as assigned including assisting with the implementation of other Leadership & Community Service-Learning and Stamp programs as needed (1-2 hours per week).
  • Opportunities to assist in other areas of Terps for Change exist if time allows.
  • Terps for Change Pop Ups
  • Creation of student leader training curriculum
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
This position is only open to Graduate Students who are currently enrolled at he University of Maryland, College Park.

Experience:
Supervisory or program management experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent collaboration, written and oral communication skills

Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Preference is given to students pursuing a career in related professional area (education, psychology, child development, counseling, or a closely related field)
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: experience working with college students, student organization advising, training and program development, leadership development, and/or service-learning
  • Two-year commitment preferred.
  • Positivity and a good sense of humor.

  • This is a 20-hour a week, 12 month position. The position is part of the Leadership & Community Service- Learning (LCSL) unit. The mission of this organization is to: “engage students in experiential and community based learning to foster socially responsible leadership.”
  • 12 month at-will appointment with opportunity to renew for a second year.
  • 20 hours per week; Required to keep regular office hours.
  • Summer and Winter term classes and internships are possible but will need to be discussed due to the nature of the assistantship
  • Flexibility due to night and weekend programs.
