Grain Originator Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Grain Originator buys grain from our producers and works closely with them, helping
manage their price risk with a variety of contracting options. This is not an office-based role,
most of your time will be spent meeting with producers on their farm – where the action is!
- Accept responsibility for your actions and conduct business with honesty and integrity.
- Personal drive and the discipline to work independently, making the most of your day.
- Excellent follow-thru and timeliness when responding to producer calls and requests.
- Have pride in what you do and demonstrate that with unmatched customer service.
- Assist producers with the planning and execution of responsible grain marketing
- Keep producer clients informed via regular communication and on-farm visits.
- Educate producers about various risk management tools available to them.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients.
- Ensure grain is originated into employer facilities.
- Strong computer and technology skills.
- Effective sales and negotiation ability.
- Prospect for new clients.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 or more years grain origination experience preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass drug test and criminal background checks.
