Position Overview: Head Soccer Coach

The Head Soccer Coach is responsible for overseeing and building the soccer team. The coach will report to the Director of Athletics and must be a team player and support the institutional values of The Knox School. The ideal candidate has experience with coaching, but we are open to a passionate person who will work well with H.S. students to exceed their potential to be their best selves and one who has the desire to grow into the position and make the team his/her own. The coach will have a sound knowledge of the sport in all of its elements and is a team player.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Teach both fundamental and advanced methods of the sport.

• Have a positive teaching attitude.

• Supervise student-athletes in practice and at games.

• Manage & maintain practice plans & game plans.

• Organize practice and game schedules.

• Be organized, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator (responsive to all communication within the school staff).

• Work with school staff members effectively & efficiently on all matters related to the program and the school.

• Submit all required paperwork as necessary.

• Submit game scores and communicate well with league member teams.

• Promote safety in play and general behavior of student-athletes.

Qualifications:

• Coaching experience is preferred, but knowledgeable and passionate individuals will be considered.

• Ability to grow the program through player development and attracting prospective players to the program is desired.

• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (may be attained after hire).

• Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the game and ability to help players become better players and students.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid NYS CDL with “P” and “S” Endorsements, 19A qualified & fingerprinted
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background criminal investigation, fingerprinting, drug test, NYS DOT physical, & physical performance test. Pass all NYS 19A mandatory testing
• HS diploma or equivalent must have maintained a CDL for the past two years & have a clean driving abstract
• Provide three positive work references
