CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Latino Network seeks a bilingual, mission-driven professional with bicultural proficiency and proven experience in developing curricula, training and implementation of community health programming, in particular comprehensive sexuality education for middle and high school aged youth and parents,. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with team members internally and with key partners externally to coordinate and implement training and programming.

The Coordinator must have experience developing curricula, conducting staff training, an excellent understanding of implementing program development best practices, effectively implementing positive youth sexuality education and health promotion programs. They will work closely with the Health and Wellness Program Manager as well as other staff across the organization to coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation aspects of the programs. The Coordinator will be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, be able to implement complex projects, develop timelines, and promote Latino Network’s vision and mission.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position will support the success of the Health and Wellness Programs, by training and supporting staff to implement sexuality education programs for Latino youth and parents in school-based and community-based settings. This position will also enroll interested program participants in Oregon’s Reproductive Health Access Fund program. As such, travel to sites across Multnomah County is required, and potentially to our Washington and Clackamas County sites, both during the week and on occasional Saturdays. The job will include developing curricula, providing training, coordination of program implementation, data entry, and attending meetings with external partners.

This position requires excellent follow through; high attention to detail; professional writing skills; and excellent communication through in person meetings, phone, e-mail, and group communication with Latino Network community partners, staff, and program participants.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out the program implementation plans, including logistics, coordinating with other teams and departments within Latino Network, outreach and recruiting, and data collection
  • Develop curricula and train and support staff and community members in their learning of culturally-specific sexual health and relationship curricula and interventions that are medically accurate, comprehensive, trauma informed, racially affirming, LGBTQ inclusive, and age-appropriate, including information on access to abortion, to promote healthy behaviors
  • Enroll interested program participants in Oregon’s Reproductive Health Access Fund program and support their utilization of said services, including abortion services
  • Work with Health and Wellness Program Manager, program directors, school- and community-based staff, as well as external partners to plan the logistics for implementing the curricula
  • Implement program specific evaluation and assessment plans developed in-house or with program partners, including inputting data into multiple databases
  • Connect with other similar community-based programs to learn from and/or collaborate, if appropriate
  • Document program practices and methods for program sustainability
  • Provide information for program updates and reports as necessary for funders
  • Attend relevant local conferences and trainings to inform best practices
  • Establish a safe, fun and youth-focused environment where participants are encouraged and supported in the development and strengthening of social, leadership, and academic skills and behaviors
  • Interrupt negative behaviors and language regarding gender, sexual orientation, violence, etc. firmly, compassionately and without stigmatizing participants
  • Demonstrate leadership to ensure conduct, safety, accountability, and development of participants
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education in a health related field OR a Community Health Worker certification, OR equivalent skills, experience and training; AND
  • Two years coordinating relevant community health programs and two years training colleagues, preferably in the CHW model
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English required
  • Experience in implementing programs for Latinos, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively train colleagues, particularly in sexuality education curricula
  • Demonstrated experience implementing comprehensive sexuality education programs
  • Demonstrated outcomes in developing and implementing health and wellness programming for youth and adults
  • Knowledge of culturally based world view, adaptive reasoning, and problem solving practices of Latino individuals, families, and community living in urban neighborhoods impacted by crime, poverty, and racial inequity
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about trauma informed care and strengths-based practices
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about youth who may be involved in gangs or impacted by them
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with schools, students, families, and other community partners
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to follow direction and implement strategies
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive to successfully achieve the functions of the position as described in the job responsibilities
  • Experience and training needed to perform the functions of the position as described in the job responsibilities

By nature of our service to K-12 school districts, this position is subject to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) mandate requiring all employees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or qualification for a medical or religious exemption.   • Reliable transportation to attend in-person meetings and events required
  • Temporarily working remotely during Covid-19 related office use restrictions in place. Ability to report to physical in person work location including office and in the community (schools, churches, parks, community centers, etc.) as needed.
  • Evening and weekend availability required. Work hours are flexible to accommodate program implementation; long hours during peak periods.

Latino Network is a fast-paced, highly engaged work environment with satellite operations across multiple counties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
