This pharmacy technician will be hired into our Home Delivery team in Chandler, AZ (off of the I-10 and Chandler Blvd)! As a Pharmacy Processing Technician, your role will be primarily telephonic, answering inbound calls, making outbound calls, and processing prescriptions for home delivery. You will have the opportunity to provide direct customer service to patients and their caregivers, manage the prescription filling workflow (prior to the script being sent to the fulfillment center), trouble-shoot insurance issues, and support the processing and clinical pharmacists within the support center. Half of our team is on the phones one week and the other half is not, rotating weekly. There will be occasional cross-training opportunities to our fulfillment center, as needed; our team offers a number of growth opportunities as well! Our Pharmacy Processing Technicians are essential to the implementation of our home delivery pharmacy business line.
We are hiring a full-time Processing Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Chandler, AZ! Our processing pharmacy technicians operate in a call center environment making both inbound and outbound calls. This is a full time, day shift opportunity working Monday-Friday, within the hours of 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. This opportunity also offers the ability to work from home once fully trained, as allowed. No weekends or holidays are currently required (schedule may change based on business needs). Recruiter to provide sign-on eligibility during interview process. POSITION SUMMARY
This position will prepare, dispense, and compound medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy. Provide excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, strong problem solving, documentation and computer skills. Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support pharmaceutical care activities, complete pharmacy billing activities, record keeping, reporting, inventory management, and arrange appropriate medication delivery.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions and input into the computer for verification by the pharmacist. Communicate with patients and initiate problem resolution on payer issues.
2. Prepare, dispense, and compound appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient.
3. Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and communicate with patients in waiting area.
4. Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians.
5. Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and/or may be in training for a technical/trades career
Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification (exception for Nevada) OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience. Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required. Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities. Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required.
BSS Registry Team members and Travelers are not eligible to drive on behalf of Banner and are not required to possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred. Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred. Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred. Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
