Job Description

Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Manages the cleaning and upkeep of assigned areas. Performs any combination of duties to maintain order, sanitation, and cleanliness in facilities. Maintains supplies.


Summary/Objective

This position reports directly to the Auxiliary & Support Services Manager. Oversees the operation of the housekeeping department on campus. Performs supervisory duties to maintain order, sanitation, and cleanliness throughout campus facilities.


Essential Functions

  • Serves a the subject matter expert or organization resource in the Housekeeping department
  • Supervises and/or directs the work of Housekeepers to provide a clean and safe working/living environment according to established RWS Housekeeping procedures.
  • Ensures staff cleans and maintains room surfaces, fixtures, and furniture; to include: floors, walls, windows, light fixtures, ceiling fans, bathroom showers, sinks, toilets, etc.
  • Ensures staff restocks restroom supplies
  • Ensures staff empties and cleans trash receptacles inside of buildings.
  • Develops individual cleaning schedules.’
  • Creates and maintains a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.
  • Maintains professional behavior when completing tasks and interacting with others as a team member.
  • Approves staffs time and leave
  • Forecasts and assigns projects and/or deep cleaning assignments
  • Performs inspections of campus buildings.
  • Trains Housekeeping staff members.
  • Accumulates information for monthly reports.
  • Sits on interview panels for Housekeeping positions.
  • Performs on-call duties and responds as needed.
  • Completes mid-year and yearly evaluations of all employees.
  • Completes requests for disciplinary actions
  • Maintains/orders supplies and maintains equipment.
  • Support the Housekeeping operations at Cave Spring Center campus by performing Inspections, assisting with supply and equipment needs, and training of contract housekeeping staff.
  • Ensures staff observes required safety precautions in disposing of contaminated refuse.
  • Ensures staff understands and follow safety requirements when using cleaning chemicals.
  • Assist with training of students in a housekeeping worksite or students in the industrial housekeeping training program.
  • Other duties as assigned

This position does require supervision of direct report staff


Work Environment

This job operates within a residential campus. This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. This position requires some work outside for special cleaning projects like washing windows to exterior structures.


Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an indoor and outdoor setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve working in different weather conditions, such as extreme heat or cold and/or wet, humid, or dry settings. This is a physically demanding job that will require frequent movement. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This position will require occasional weekend work. This position may occasionally require longer hours.


Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be requested to attend training specific to job or assistance is needed to support housekeeping at the Cave Spring Center campus.


Minimum Education and Experience

One year of experience as a supervisor in related area of assignment OR One year of experience at the lower level Housekeeper 3 (FES042) or position equivalent.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Two years of Housekeeping Supervisory experience.
  • Experience stripping/waxing floors, carpet cleaning, window cleaning
