POSITION TITLE: HVAC/Maintenance Technician
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical school training and minimum of three years’ experience directly related to one or more building systems (HVAC, pneumatic or Direct Digital Control) control systems, computerized energy management system, and have a Universal EPA Refrigerant License.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Good physical health.
- Extensive technical training and/or actual experience in heating, ventilating, air conditioning, electrical work, boiler operation and repair, medium tonnage chiller service and repair, pump service and repair. Able to service and repair hydronic systems, walk in refrigerators/freezers, able to solder copper and experience in welding. Backflow certification a plus.
- Previous maintenance experience required.
- Previous experience working with various small and large equipment.
- Must demonstrate the following skills: work with basic mathematical and computational concepts; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Maintain license/certificate as required.
- Previous experience mig welding.
- Previous experience working with concrete.
- Woodworking skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot lighting and other electrical circuits.
- Minor vehicle/tractor maintenance.
- Experience servicing mechanical equipment of all types, not limited to HVAC equipment.
REPRTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month employment (260 days) with benefits according to the Classified Agreement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operate, regulate, maintain, and make minor and major repairs on heating/ventilating equipment as assigned.- Operate energy management controls for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment as assigned.
- Train maintenance staff on operating, maintaining, and minor repairs of heating/ventilating equipment.
- Monitor Energy Management System through use of computer software system.
- Responsible for maintenance in response to work orders and tasks assigned under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Respond to Day Custodian’s request for assistance in opening buildings. Check heating/air conditioning systems for operations. Inform Maintenance Supervisor of any abnormality.
- Learn and maintain a working knowledge of all mechanical systems.
- Remove snow and ice from around buildings and in parking lots.
- General maintenance and repair projects as needed.
- Cover emergency custodial needs during the school day upon request.
- Clean and maintain all tools and equipment in the best possible condition.
- Helps with large projects throughout the district during summer months and/or breaks, including cleaning, moving, painting and general maintenance.
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation and ensure that all contacts with the public are handled with tact and diplomacy.
- All other duties as assigned by the Mmaintenance Supervisor.
