HPC-Industrial is looking for a Hydro Vac Technician to join their safety conscious team! The Technician is responsible for the safe and proper execution of HPC-Industrial jobs across all services lines.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for safety policies and procedures of both the company and the customer, including hands-on information regarding operations, safety, equipment, emergency response and administrative functions.
  • Hands-on operation of manual and automated hydroblasting equipment.
  • Operate equipment by energizing the pumping equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on company equipment being used on the job.
  • Ensure equipment is received and maintained in good working condition throughout the job. Report all deficiencies as they arise to dispatch and/or Division Operations Manager.
  • Initiate corrective action for any unsafe or environmentally unsound condition. Report situation in accordance with company regulations and procedures.
  • Carryout all company policies.
  • Monitor morale of personnel and endeavor to maintain a high level and "can do" attitude.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current, applicable regulations.
  • Maintain a problem-solving attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Environment:

  • Industrial setting, refinery, chemical plants

Skills and Experience:

  • Specific vocational preparation including classroom safety training, on-the-job training and essential experience gained on other jobs.
  • Language proficiency: understand English at a level to comprehend safety training and respond to instructions in emergency situations.
  • Valid driver license and other requirements of company's driving policy required when driving company vehicle or using personal vehicle on company business.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation of emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers.
  • Needs to have a Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma / GED or equivalent experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Pass a medical and drug test.
  • Physically capable of performing all duties and responsibilities assigned. Specifically, lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in adverse work conditions, varying from very hot to very cold.
  • Able to work in very wet environments as well as very dry environments.
  • Physically capable of standing, shoveling and performing other types of physical work for long periods of time.
  • Capable of working long shifts under adverse conditions (up to 16 hours a day, and up to 14 days in a row).
  • Ability to safely perform work using high pressure water shotguns (up to 40,000 PSI) with back thrust up to 6o pounds of thrust.
  • Ability to safely handle up to a 6-inch vacuum hose (with up to 6,500 cubic feet of air moving thru the hose per minute, traveling at speeds of up to 160 MPH).
  • Medically and physically capable of wearing respirator while performing the above listed work.
  • 100% ability to stay focused on surrounding hazards at all times while performing job requirements in extremely hazardous work environments (i. e. steel mills, power plants, refineries, chemical plants, etc).
