IDB Invest - Portfolio Management Analyst Consultant – Corporates & SMEs – Chile, Paraguay or Uruguay

Would you like to see your work having a positive impact on people’s lives?

We are currently searching a dynamic professional to join the Portfolio Management Division to help monitor a portfolio of loans and guarantees to private sector and non-sovereign guarantee counterparts in the Corporate & SME segment.

Context of this search:

IDB Invest aims to be the partner of choice for the private sector in Latin America and the Caribbean. We finance projects to advance clean energy, modernize agriculture, strengthen transportation systems and expand access to financing.

Like the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), our commitment is to economic growth and social inclusion; that is central to our identity, as part of the IDB Group. But our focus is on the private sector.

As the private sector arm of the IDB Group, we know the region. We work where our clients are and can provide them with customized financing solutions and expert advice tailored to their specific industry and market.

IDB Invest is owned by its 47 member countries, 26 of which are in the Latin American and Caribbean region. Each country’s voting power is proportional to the number of IDB Invest shares it holds.

Our people are committed and passionate about improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean, and they get to do what they love in a diverse, collaborative, and multicultural work environment. We are the first Latin American and Caribbean development institution to be awarded the EDGE certification, recognizing our strong dedication to gender equality. We encourage women, afro-descendants, Indigenous peoples, the LGBTQ+ Community, and persons with disabilities to apply. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job interview process. If you are a qualified candidate with a disability, please e-mail us at HRSC@iadb.org to request a reasonable accommodation to complete this application.

  • Obtain and analyze information to assess counterparty compliance with financing agreements and to mitigate risk.
  • Conduct financial statement analysis, analyze financial projections, prepare risk rating proposals and periodic supervision reports to assess the credit standing of our counterparts.
  • Help assess status/events affecting loans and guarantees and, where necessary, disseminate information/help prepare recommendations for appropriate action and next steps.
  • Help portfolio management officers engaging with borrowers, shareholders, B-lenders and co-lenders as well as agents and internal counterparts.
  • Participate in monitoring meetings.
  • Follow on-going developments in the relevant industry sector(s).
  • Help ensure that counterparts comply with IDB Invest internal risk policies and guidelines liaising closely with the credit risk management, environmental and social, legal and finance departments, among others.
  • Participation in activities that support inclusiveness (mentoring, recruitment, leadership development, on-boarding, etc.).
  • Propose and support actions to improve and streamline internal processes.
  • Contribute to the development and assessment of developmental effectiveness indicators.
  • Collect and disseminate loan/guarantee credit risk information.

  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: You hold an advanced degree (at least Master’s, MBA, or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Development Studies, or relevant field.
  • Experience: You have at least five (5) years of professional relevant experience in the credit assessment and/or rating of corporate counterparts, gained within a bank, financial institution and/or rating agency.

Opportunity Summary:

  • Length of contract: 36 months
  • Location: Chile, Paraguay or Uruguay
