Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Responsibilities:

The Integrated Education Training and Pathways to Success Coach is responsible for coaching students that are enrolled in non-credit, short-term programs, and implementing the Clubhouse-to-Career (C2C) Pathways to Success. This position is based from an innovative program under the auspices of The Clubhouse Network, an international community of 100 Clubhouses and Best Buy Teen Tech Centers located in 19 countries. As such this position is accountable for mastering and tracking students’ progress from prospect to enrollee and ultimately achieving or exceeding specific enrollment and achievement in the non-credit and short-term program goals. Also, the candidate will seek to develop and implement technology and work readiness curricula and other program elements to prepare Best Buy Teen Tech Centers youth ages 16-21 for Best Buy retail, Geek Squad, and other tech jobs (e.g., web development). The ideal candidate will be competitively target-driven, possess positive energy, confidence, and exceptional communication skills. Must be oriented toward teamwork and collegiality and possess the willingness to work flexible hours as this position requires regular participation in on- and off-campus workshops/events. It is necessary for the coach to be able to problem solve with appropriate cognitive abilities and to multi-task, prioritize, motivate and track students’ progress, and efficiently manage time. This person will be one who loves to meet new people and knows how to use every opportunity to network and turn it opportunity into business results. Finally, this position must maintain confidentiality in all aspects of student records as mandated by FERPA and institutional policies.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify target populations and develop recruiting strategies that track each subpopulation through the recruiting and enrollment funnel: prospects, inquiries, applications, completed applications, and enrolled students in non-credit and short-term programs.
  • Track students’ achievement progress in each of the non-credit and short-term programs in collaboration with the Student Success Center.
  • Generate and submit weekly enrollment management reports that record monitoring student progress and updates.
  • Assist with special activities/events to get prospects/inquiries/applicants engaged with campus throughout the community.
  • Work with Other Departments regarding activities, advertisements, communications, and printed materials related to coaching students for non-credit and short-term programs.
  • Act as the primary support for participants as they develop specific technology skills, build work readiness skills, gain real-world experience through internship placements, and receive career guidance over time for jobs that can lead to broader opportunities in technology fields.
  • Plan and implement short- and long-term workshops, given on a weekly basis, designed to build knowledge and skills for workforce readiness and technology.
  • Serve as the primary contact and support for internship supervisors.
  • Attend Immersion Week training in Boston (date TBD) to explore the Clubhouse learning model, build skills, and become familiar with TCN resources where C2C Pathways resources are shared.
  • Assist with data collection and other information needed for evaluation.
  • Be an active team member within the Teen Tech Center staff, youth and community.
  • Participate in regular videoconferences with TCN, Best Buy, and staff from other Teen Tech Centers involved in C2C Pathways to Success.
  • Attend and present at TCN Annual Conference in April 2021 (date TBD), along with facilitators at other sites.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all program partners, mentors and volunteers; as well as; provide ongoing support for internship supervisors.
  • Be an active team member within the Teen Tech Center staff, youth and community.
  • Assist with data collection and other information needed for evaluation; including youth attendance, participation, workplace skills acquired, and technologies learned.
  • Prepare program reports and support grant writing for the next C2C program year.
  • Track program spending, balance budget, and complete financial reports.
  • Attend Immersion Week training in Boston (date TBD) to explore the Clubhouse learning model, build skills, and become familiar with TCN resources where C2C Pathways resources are shared.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the ACCS Chancellor’s Office, and the College.
  • Participate in College functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Workforce Development, Teen Tech Center Coordinator, Dean of Technical Programs and Workforce Development, and the President.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution,
  • Must be able to travel,
  • Effective oral and written communication skills,
  • Experience working with computers and interest in technology as a creative and empowering tool,
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, planning, organizing and prioritizing with minimum supervision,
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of office information.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • An understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the Alabama Community College System,
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a professional manner.
