Overview:
SKILLS
The Indirect Buyer will provide purchasing expertise to ensure the timely delivery of materials for indirect goods and services. This position is responsible for preparation, issuance, and monitoring of purchase orders for goods and services that are used to support our corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility as well as assisting in the category management, sourcing, supplier selection, and compliance monitoring.
This position will support both facilities in Iron Mountain, MI and Des Moines, IA and will require up to 20% travel.

- Process Purchase Request and/or Material Order Forms to purchase indirect goods and servers
- Make purchasing decisions in accordance with standard work and from preferred suppliers
- Analyze and review purchase orders for accuracy and completion
- Prioritize and actively manage requests, expedite critical items as necessary.
- Support purchasing activities including data gathering, preparing quote/proposal packages (RFQ/RFP), evaluating quotes, making supplier recommendations, and executing contracts
- Review quotes for accuracy
- Resolve PO issues in timely manner
- Process order acknowledgements from suppliers
- Update and maintain Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Non-Conformance Notifications (NCN)
- Accurately file all required documentation
- Obtain competitive pricing/new sources for materials that do not have a preferred supplier with a Total Cost of Ownership view (Line Item Price, Rebates, Early Payment Discounts)
- Maintain an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders
- Maintain strict confidentiality with all purchasing information and programs
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Management, Senior MRO Buyer, and Buyer Lead for purchasing activities and follow established purchasing policies and procedures
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide requested goods and services and identify strategic sourcing opportunities
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers while supporting office and productions needs
- Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that products and services are delivered as scheduled and meet specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure suppliers are aware of their performance
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- High School Diploma, Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree preferred
- Minimum of two years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
