Position Overview
The Hope Springs Safe House Individual & Family Therapist will implement a comprehensive, holistic, evidenced based program that recognizes and supports the needs of children and youth exposed to violence. The incumbent will serve as the clinical expert in program design and decision-making; as well as providing counseling services to our children and families. This position requires strong interpersonal leadership skills in public speaking, organizational and analytical critical thinking in planning as well as expertise and initiative. In addition, the Individual & Family Therapist will be responsible for surveillance of local and regional needs and the most recent research in trending best practices.
This .30 position is responsible for implementing specialized services to meet the needs of children impacted by domestic violence.
Essential Functions
- Implement evidence-based treatments with children and families exposed to domestic
violence; includes designing and approving all program plans to ensure therapeutic
soundness and fit.
- Coordinate and/or provide direct clinical services for children exposed to domestic
violence.
- Coordinate and/or directly run therapeutic groups for children and parents/guardians
exposed to domestic violence as necessary.
- Build capacity to employ child centered assessments and service planning for children
exposed to violence by establishing evidenced-based evaluation tools and conduct staff/volunteer training to employ those tools.
- Work collaboratively with Hope Springs staff on protocols to assess, intervene and secure appropriate services for children and youth exposed to domestic violence.
- Review and redesign children’s curricula on an ongoing basis. Ensure that children and
youth are receiving age-appropriate evidenced-based programming and support based on research in trending best practices.
- Develop training for volunteers and contractors on how to appropriately respond to
children and youth exposed to violence.
- Build on policies and procedures in place to help support clear boundaries and plans for a safe and consistent experience for children and youth at Hope Springs Safe House.
- Work as a liaison between schools, preschools, DCS and other service providers.
- Complete assigned daily tasks as needed.
- Be on call as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
A Christian who is committed to serve people with the love of God and who is trustworthy of confidences, relating well to people, and striving for the good of the Kingdom of Christ.
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or directly related field.
- LCSW, LPC or other licensed human services position preferred.
- At least 5 years of related experience including program development and management.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for children.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and make sound decisions.
- Demonstrated success developing and evaluating program models, and selecting and
implementing innovative programs.
- Demonstrated success in engaging program participants within a voluntary service model
of practice.
- Knowledge of community resources and support organizations preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with common computer software such as Word or Pages, Outlook, Numbers or Excel, QuickBooks, Keynote or PowerPoint; and the ability to learn relevant data collection and reporting software.

To perform essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required with or without reasonable accommodation to sit, stand, bend and reach with manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, copiers, telephones and other office equipment. Valid driver’s license required. Submission to Criminal background checks and drug screens required. May require lifting up to 40 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
