Job Summary:
The Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for product definition (production method, technology) of all Transit buses built, using 5 different powertrains (Battery Electric, Fuel Cell, CNG, Diesel-Hybrid and Diesel). This position provides a critical function within our team, developing production solutions from concept through continuous use.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and Document Standard Work and Procedures
- Conduct Time & Motion Studies and approve labor standards.
- Create Operation Method Sheets for each work cell.
- Ballance work cells using Yamazumi charts.
- Collect the data necessary to update the current standards to reflect any changes to an operation.
- Study current factory layout and create future state map of factory.
- Analyze and evaluate methods for optimal operations.
- Work with business partners to determine space planning ideas.
- Provide accurate analysis and consideration of alternatives and outcomes.
- Provide design input for granular level components.
- Create AutoCAD drawings for factory layout and new tooling/fixtures.
- Use data to report status, performance and define issues
- Develop ideas and concepts to translate to continuous improvement ideas, cost/benefit analysis and change initiatives for small to medium (~<$250K) scope projects
- Develop skills in discrete production simulation and capacity analysis.
- Hold meetings with supervisors and employees to present changes in procedures, equipment, and/or standards
- Maintain complete records of all time studies or other data used to change standards
- Update existing documentation to reflect changes in procedures, equipment, or standards
- Drive process standardization and improvements “inside the four walls” of their distribution center to ensure the success in meeting its objectives
- Provide project management leadership and is responsible for the new processes.
- Lead the solution development, cost benefit analysis and implementation of improvement opportunities.
- Research and maintain knowledge of emerging industry practice.
- Aid filling out Capex requisitions using business acumen.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have working knowledge of a Production Processes in a Takt paced, moving assembly line.
- Must Have working knowledge of Computer Aided Design software.
- Must be organized, able to prioritize, set and keep deadlines, change direction quickly, and adapt to various work environments easily.
- Strong ability to work independently, use sound judgment, and make thoughtful decisions in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written, including following instructions.
- Must be able to work effectively in group settings through collaborative, solutions-oriented, and win-win approaches.
- Experience with hands-on integration and troubleshooting preferred.
- Professionalism, effective communication skills, organization, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications as needed to satisfactorily perform work assignments – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint as well as have the ability to learn company enterprise systems as needed.
- Ability to travel as required.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related area.
- 3 years’ minimum experience working with vehicle assembly and fabrication lines.
- Proficient practice of Industrial Engineering discipline and tasks on established and new processes, system, and equipment.
- Strong understanding and application of end-to-end Industrial Engineering discipline, processes and tools.
- Experience interacting and communicating clearly/concisely with senior leadership.
- Prior experience with Supply Chain Distribution/Fulfillment (eComm) environment desired
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to perform within physical requirements including, but not limited to 40 lb. single lift; walking, kneeling, squatting, and standing for long periods of time.
Work Environment/Conditions:
- Must be able to perform tasks (80% of time in a Production line environment and 20% in an office environment)

The pay scale for newly hired employees in this position at this location in California is $64,480.00 - $87,500.00. This is based on meeting all of the requirements of the role. The base pay offered for the role may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We are proud to offer competitive benefits in addition to competitive pay.
